Prelude issue #1 Reading with Amanda Smeltz, Alexandra Pechman, Jenny Zhang, Jeff Nagy, and Brenda Iijima

Brenda Iijima is the author of four full-length collections of poetry. She edited the eco language reader, a collection of essays by poets concerning climate change (Nightboat Books). Untimely Death is Driven Beyond the Horizon is forthcoming from 1913 Press. For several years she has been choreographing and performing spasmodic dances. She is the publisher of Portable Press @ Yo-Yo Labs.

With Eric Linsker, Jeff Nagy co-edits The Claudius App: a journal of fast poetry attheclaudiusapp.com.

Alexandra Pechman is a writer living in New York. Her writing about poetry has appeared on the Poetry Foundation website and on the Paris Review Daily. Her writing on contemporary art has appeared in the International New York Times, ARTnews, and on Artforum.com.

Nina Puro’s work is forthcoming or recently appeared in The Journal,Cream City Review, Boxcar, Pleiades, Third Coast, and other publications. She is the recipient of an MFA in poetry from Syracuse University and currently lives in Brooklyn.

Amanda Smeltz is the author of Imperial Bender and the assistant poetry editor of Forklift, Ohio. She lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.

Jenny Zhang is the author of the poetry book Dear Jenny, We Are All Find from Octopus Books, and the non-fiction chapbook Hags from Guillotine Press. She currently lives in New York and writes for Rookie magazine.
